In recent years, use of digital media resources has taken on increasing prominence in higher education, especially in online and hybrid learning environments. The Digital Media Committee addresses issues concerning these resources in an effort to help VALE member institutions obtain and utilize them. For example, the Committee uses economies of scale to leverage consortium discounts from commercial distributors of educational videos, including those available to members on DVD and streaming formats. Furthermore, as streaming video proliferates, the Committee helps institutions engage in streaming activities through distributors’ online video portals as well as through NJVid (www.njvid.net), a third-party streaming video platform available to New Jersey institutions, administered by NJEDge.Net.
The Committee also addresses topics related to pedagogical uses of non-video digital media resources, including still images and audio files.
