Jeopardy - The Information Literacy Tournament

Originally presented to Brookdale Community College Faculty & Educational Services Staff - Faculty Day, September 3, 2003. Librarians Jeanne Ostrowski, Shay Delcurla, and Karen Topham, with assistance from Learning Assistants Mary Fiorillo and Berni Hoyer and Office Assistant Edy Lordi. Linked below are the powerpoint presentations of the game, final Jeopardy, and the four "commercials" that were presented to faculty and staff. Our purpose in presenting the game was to introduce some of the skills, concepts, and background knowledge that we expect our community college students to know by the time they graduate from Brookdale Community College.

We thank Interim Dean Nancy Kegelman for securing prizes from each of the Divisions for our top winners. These included tickets to the BCC production of "Godspell," gift certificates for Business & Community Development seminars, and (our top prize) a free, reserved parking spot in the new parking lot for one week.

We also thank our Dean, David Murray, for introducing our presentation with his "Road Map to Information Literacy," and with gift certificates for some of the prize winners to "Lunch with a Librarian."

Karen Topham and Shay Delcurla presented the game, the purpose of its development, and some of the outcomes of faculty-librarian collaboration resulting from its initial presentation at the 5th Annual VALE Conference, held at Rutgers University, on January 7, 2004.
