  • Database Created

Each of the five alpha libraries has contributed 10,000 MARC records for a database to be used to test discovery software.  The College of New Jersey has already used the database to test VUFind (Villanova University), and Drew University will shortly be using it to test XC (University of Rochester).

A call for volunteers was put out for VALE members to serve on the Editorial Board putting together the next Report (covering the fiscal years 2009 – 2011).  Paul Glassman has graciously volunteered to be the chair of the Board.

The Board is beginning the process of putting the Report together.  They are looking for photographs and good quotes to consider for inclusion in the Report.

  • Congratulations to Sharon Yang on her Library Hi-Tech article

Congratulations to Sharon Yang of VOSC for her new Library Hi-Tech article with Melissa Hofmann of Rider U. They also did a poster session entitled "How "Next Generation" Are We? • FY12 Digital Video Offerings Available

Offers from 23 vendors/distributors for licensing or purchasing streaming video content.

  • Kuali Open Library Environment (OLE) Update

Kuali OLE development is off and running! OLE's first release, code-named Eno (for the river that runs near OLE partner North Carolina State), is due the end of June 2011. Eno will be a non-public release intended to demonstrate due progress to the Mellon Foundation and our interested constituents. OLE's first public demonstration is scheduled for April 5, 2011 at the CNI Conference in San Diego. This demonstration will illustrate OLE's ability to ingest records from a publishing vendor, generate a requisition, create a purchase order, and send that purchase order to the vendor.
